When you were a young girl, what did you learn about power?

Did you see it as a resource you could command or something that belonged exclusively to other people—men, adults, white people, rich people? Did someone teach you about your power, about how to cultivate or exercise it in your life? In the world? Or were you taught to submit to the power of others?

What definitions of power did you come to understand? Was it wealth? Fame? Control? Force?

As a woman, how do you feel about power now? Is it a word you claim?
